This is my /now page, where you can see what I’m up to!

Work

  1. Piddling through my day job as an assistant in an elementary Montessori classroom. My kid has been at this school since she was three, and she’s starting her last year of elementary school this year. The pay is terrible but I work with some of the most amazing women you could ever meet and it’s a genuinely fun job that I look forward to. During the school year, I feel less like I’m going to work and more like I’m going to my second home for the day.
  2. …but I’m on summer break until August 3rd, so what I’m actually doing is piddling around at my writing desk every morning with a cup of coffee in hand. Sometimes I hammer away at my Olivetti Valentine. Sometimes I’m on my laptop typing furiously into Ulysses. Sometimes I’m writing in my journal or commonplace book.
  3. I use all of the various writing I’m doing to cobble together a weekly essay…thing(?) on Substack, since that’s what all the thot daughters are doing. The hope is this writing thing can become a full-time thing or at least a very lucrative side-hustle.

Personal Projects & Goals

  1. Starting my undergraduate degree in English literature at SNHU on August 31. I have waffled and changed degrees and dropped out of more programs than you can shake a stick at. My husband agrees that it’s because I probably should have been an English student from the start. I’m seriously considering getting my Masters and even daydreaming about a Ph.D.
  2. Getting ready to move back to my hometown of Canton, Ohio. Right now that means being buried under a myriad of home improvement projects.
  3. Trying to read more classical literature and philosophy. Hard books.
  4. The above coincides with me trying to spend less time in front of screens mindless consuming some form of bullshit or another.

Health

  1. Work on protein and iron intake: physically I can’t eat much and I generally dislike meat so this shit sucks. Currently addressing this by supplementing with Huel beverages.
  2. Lifting weights 3x a week, with a focus on shoulders and booty via Booty by Bret. This is easily the hardest thing I’m trying to change about myself.
  3. I have about 30-40 more pounds I’d like to lose, after already losing 90 pounds and hitting my first milestone (Be able to shop in the regular section of the clothing store). This will get my BMI under 30.
  4. I am doing a twice-daily skin routine.
  5. Mentally: struggling with turning 40 this year. Midlife crisis? Midlife crisis.
